Jose Mourinho Give Up  On Title Race After Just 17 League Matches And Rule Out Possible Second Position Finishing By The End Of The Season For Manchester United.

Earlier in the beginning of the 2016-17 English Premier League season, Mourinho's Manchester United were unbeaten in the league after three games and having the maximum nine points recorded as they sit at the top of the table with goal difference from close rivalry Manchester City.
Mourinho delivered a challenging speech to other clubs in the league saying that his team Manchester United are the only title contender as other managers are afraid to come out to claim such.

But now his former club side Chelsea are now looking more dangerous and arguably active favorite than other nineteen teams in the league. Manchester United are unbeaten in their last eight league games since being thrashed 4-0 at Stamford Bridge, and are sixth in the table with thirty points after seventeen matches.
United are four points behind fourth position Arsenal and are thirteen points away to Chelsea who are sitting at the top position with six points above Liverpool in the second spot.

According to Jose Mourinho, Chelsea's ability to grind out victories will make it very difficult for anyone to catch them in the Premier League.

Mourinho said

"You have to be honest and say that is very difficult. It's not just the difference in points, it's also the Chelsea philosophy of playing. They score one goal and they win. They defend a lot. They defend well. They don't care what people say, what people think. They just want to win. And, because of that, I don't see them losing many points.

Let's see where we[Man United] finish. I don't want to say fourth, because i think we can do better than fourth. But we have the risk of not finishing fourth because the competition is so hard and the top teams have the same ambitions as we have. So I don't want to say fourth or third or fifth."

Manchester United will play their remaining two league fixtures in 2016 at Old Trafford against Sunderland on Monday 26th December and on  Saturday 31st of December against Middlesbrough.
