Alex Iwobi Join The List Of Nigerians With UEFA Tournament Goal Scorers.


Nigerian born Alex Iwobi on Tuesday score his first Champions League goal in his career for Arsenal in their last group matches against FC Basel.
Iwobi score the fourth goal after he got an assist from the German International Mesut Ozil in the 53rd minute.

Iwobi got his first Champions League appearance in Arsenal's 1-1 Champions League game against Barcelona in their last campaign at Camp Nuo, Iwobi played better and impress the coach and fans despite the fact That Arsenal crashed out of the tournament.
Alex Iwobi have played in all Arsenal's six games in the group stage as they finished Top ahead of French champions Paris Saint Germain.


Alex Iwobi is now the latest player to join the list of Nigerians with Champions League goals.

7 GOALS..... VICTOR IKPEBA; Ikpeba played for two different clubs in appearance to UEFA tournaments and score 7-goals in combination for the clubs, (Monaco, Borussia Dortmund) he is popularly known as "Prince of Monaco".


7 GOALS ....... EMMANUEL EMENIKE; He has played for Spartak Moskva and currently playing at Fenerbache and have scored 7 goals in UEFA tournament.

7 GOALS..... YAKUBU AYEGBENI; Ayegbeni scored 7 European goals in his career at a single club (Maccabi Haifa).

AHMED MUSA; Ahmed Musa played have scored 6 UEFA goals in his football career, and all six goals are for Russian Club side CSKA Moskva, presently he is playing for Leicester City in England and they are in the Champions League too but Musa have not scored UEFA goal for the English side.

5 GOALS ........ BROWN IDEYE; Ideye played for Dynamo Kyiv and currently playing for Olympiacos, he have scored 5 UEFA goals in his appearance at UEFA tournament.

5 GOALS..... NWANKWO KANU.; Kanu popularly known as Papilo in Nigeria have appeared in the UEFA top elite compettition for two different clubs AJAX and ARSENAL which he has won the Champions League trophy once with Ajax international. Kanu have scored just 5 goals in his top flight Europe competitions.

4 GOALS........ MICHAEL EDIRIN; He played for Feyenoord, and Anorthosis Famagusta and scored four UEFA goals in his career.

3 GOALS....... SHOLA AMEOBI. Ameobi played for Newcastle and appear in the UEFA competitions which he only scored 3 goals for Newcastle at UEFA tournament.

3 GOALS..... TIJANI BABANGIDA. He played in UEFA competition for just Ajax international and he score 3 goals in his career for them at the Europe top flight tournament.

2 GOALS....... KELECHI IHEANACHO; Iheanacho scored his first UEFA goals at Manchester City's 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach, scoring the fourth goal and just yesterday against Celtic at Etihad stadium he scored his second UEFA Champions League goal in a 1-1 score line.

1 GOAL............ ALEX IWOBI; Iwobi scored his first ever UEFA tournament goal for Arsenal yesterday at Basel in his 7th Champions League appearance. He is now second Nigerian to score Champions League goal for the North Londoners after Kanu Nwankwo.


Iwobi speaks after the match against Basel, he said: "It's been a good night, I wouldn't say my goal was a cracker but it was a great assist by Mesut.
"It's felt like a long time coming and it's always a great feeling to score a goal, but I'm just pleased with the team's performance and that we were able to finish top of the group.

"Having a second leg at home is a big adventure [in the knockout stage] and it gives you the belief that you can do it. However, the champions League is full of top teams."
