Copa America Quaterfinal...... Argentina v Venezuela Betting

La Albiceleste are expected to march on in the Copa America and our tipster thinks that there is value in backing the favourites to win without conceding at the Gillette Stadium

After suffering the heartache of defeat in a penalty shoot-out in the final of last year's competition, Argentina are hoping to go one better in the Copa America this time around.
Remarkably, it has been 23 years since La Albiceleste tasted success in this tournament, but Gerardo Martino's men have made a superb start to their bid for a 15th Copa America crown.
Argentina breezed through the group stages of the competition, winning all three fixtures and opening their campaign with an impressive 2-1 defeat of defending champions Chile in California.

Their reward is a quarter-final clash against Venezuela - and Martino's men are strong favourites to see off Rafael Dudamel's side, with the odds compilers offering just 2/7 (1.29) that Argentina win inside 90 minutes, while La Albiceleste are as short as 1/8 (1.13) with Betway to secure their spot in the semi-finals of the competition.
Venezuela's run to the knockout stages is all the more surprising for, before beating Jamaica in their opening match, Dudamel's men had won just one of their previous 15 fixtures. Salomon Rondon's goal gave Venezuela a famous victory against Uruguay in their second group game and, in fact, Dudamel's charges would have topped their section but for the concession of a late equalising goal in their final game against Mexico.
The outsiders though, will need to be at their very best if they are to stand any realistic chance of getting the better of Martino's team; indeed, the enormity of the task facing Dudamel's outfit is reflected by Betway's 10/1 (11.0) quote for the underdogs to win inside 90 minutes, while the same firm go 5/1 (6.0) that Venezuela reach the semi-final stage of this competition for only the second time in their history. The draw is chalked up as a 9/2 (5.50) chance with Betway.

Defensive discipline has been pivotal to the progress of Venezuela in this competition, for they kept clean sheets against both Jamaica and Uruguay en route to the last eight, but keeping things tight against Argentina looks to be a particularly tough assignment. Martino's men have scored 10 goals in their three Copa ties thus far - more than any other side - and, as such, the 3/4 (1.75) quote for Argentina (-1) in Betway's handicap market may prove popular with punters.
La Albiceleste's defensive qualities are often overlooked and it should be noted that Argentina have conceded just three goals in nine matches, keeping six clean sheets in the process.
Punters, therefore, are advised to back Martino's charges to win to nil at 10/11 (1.91) with Betway. This selection would have paid dividends in nine of the last 12 meetings between the two nations, as well as in four of Argentina's last five matches and the 10/11 (1.91) quote represents excellent value for punters ahead of this weekend's quarter-final clash.
